Our 10k event offers a flat, double lap route around The Stray. The terrain is a mixture of grass and paths. Walking 10K could take up to 3 hours to complete and is the more challenging of our events but should be suitable for most levels of fitness and experience.
This event can accomodate wheelchair users but please be mindful that although this course is flat, over 50% is on grass with no path alternative so assistance may be required.
Please bring a reusable water bottle with you if you require water during the event, as there will only be water available at the finish.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
The meeting point/start line is within one of the open fields on The Stray; near where Oatland Drive meets Slingsby Walk. This is clearly visible when approaching the Stray from any direction.
Pedestrians: There are no specific entrance points to the open fields of The Stray but please be vigilant as you may cross the course at multiple points on your way to the meeting point/start line.
General event parking: General car parking is not available at this venue. Please use the below link for further information on nearby public parking
Blue badge parking: Please use the Bede House entrance into St. Aidan's School on Oatland's Drive . A steward will direct you to the blue badge car park area. Please adhere to the 5mph restrictions at all times.
Drop-offs: Oatlands Drive and Stray Rein will both be closed on event day. The surrounding streets are permit holder parking only but can be used to drop-off event attendees. Please do so in a safe manner, being mindful of traffic and local residents.
Public transport: The Stray is accessible via public transport. Please use the below link to check availability
Wheelchair users: Our 10k event can accomodate wheelchair users but please be mindful that although this course is flat, over 50% is on grass with no path alternative so assistance may be required.
Pushchairs: Our 10k event can accomodate pushchairs
Dogs: Our 10k event can accomodate dogs. Please be mindful of others whilst on the course and maintain a short lease at all times. Dog bowls are provided half way along our 10k course for thirsty pooches.
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19.
