About the 3k event

At just over 2 miles, 3k is ideal for families or groups having a go at their first Race for Life. It's a fun, achievable event for everyone – and an unforgettable day out. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Walk, jog or run or make your way around the course however suits you and help fund life-saving cancer research.

The start and finish can be found on the heath next to Prince Charles Road.

Pedestrians: Please enter the heath from Prince Charles Road.
General Event Parking: There is no designated parking available at this venue and illegally parked cars will be towed. Many roads will be closed for the event and parkings bays will be suspended.
Blue Badge Parking: Blue badge parking can be found in Blackheath village local car parks.
Drop Offs: Due to the location there is no specific drop off area
Public Transport:-
Bus: The heath is accesible by buses stopping on Prince Charles Road or Prince or Wales Road, including services 54, 202, 380 or 386.
Train: The nearest station is Blackheath, a 10 minute walk to the event.
Electric Charging points: The nearest charging point can be found int Blackheath Grove Carpark, in Blackheath Village.
Cycling & Bike Racks: The nearest bike racks can be found on Tranquil Vale in Blackheath Village.
The majority of the course is on short cut grass on the common with a few road crossings, and is mainly flat. Whilst there are a lot of drop kerbs on the route, there may be one crossing without one. Please note that in the case of bad weather, the grass may become boggy. This course is wheelchair accessible with assistance.

Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.

Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
