Course information

Sunderland Race for Life 5k, a single lap that ventures through the breathtaking Herrington Park. The course is designed to take you on an immersive experience, showcasing the stunning lakes and local wildlife, with picturesque views of the Penshaw Monument and the North East region.

The Sunderland route mainly comprises of tarmac paths, but please be aware that some sections are on gravel tracks. The course is also undulating, providing an added challenge for participants. Keep a lookout for the split points along the way, these will be clearly marked and stewarded to guide you on your path.

The event site is just a short walk from the car park, so we advise arriving 40-50 minutes before your scheduled start time of 11:00 to ensure ample time for parking and preparations.

There are a number of buses that run along Chester Road, all of which are accessible to Herrington Country Park.

We recommend that this event is suitable for wheelchair users however assistance would be required. The course utilises the paths within the park which in places are uneven. The main event site is on grass so may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions. Designated car parking spaces are provided, car parking stewards will direct you on arrival.
