About the 5k event
The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

The start and finish line is on the field just off Wilford Grove, on the Meadows Ground just down from the Council Building.

By car:
General Event and Blue Badge Parking: There is free parking on the sports field for all participants, the entrance to the parking location can be found off Bathley Street, there is then a short walk to the event site. Please follow event signs and stewards. Please DO NOT park along Victoria Embankment, as this forms part of the course, and you will not be able to remove your vehicle until the race is complete. All parking is on grass and please note there is a 10 minute walk from the event car park to the event site, please arrive in plenty of time to get parked and walk to the event site before your start time, car sharing where possible is advised. Please avoid parking around the residential areas.
Volunteer Parking and drop-offs: This is available at the Victoria Embankment Car Park, off the Felton Road/ Green Street junction. Please DO NOT park along Victoria Embankment, as this forms part of the course, and you will not be able to remove your vehicle until the race is complete
Electric Charging points: There are two BP charging points available at the Victoria Embankment Car Park, off the Felton Road/ Green Street junction.
Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians: Please follow the directios of the stewards and the signage on event day.
Bus: There are multiple Bus routes available to Victoria Embankment. Please visit Nottingham City Transport for your most suitable route.
Train: The nearest station is Nottingham, which is a 25 minute walk to the event.
Cycling & Bike Racks: There are none available at this event.
We aim to provide our supporters with as much information as possible so that they can make an informed choice based on their own specific needs.
Event Site: The start and finish areas are both on the same grass field with tarmac paths surrounding it.
Course: The event starts and finishes on grass with the majority of the route then taking place on a mixture of tarmac and stone paths. There are a few inclines during the course, so anyone with accessibility requirements may want assistance on the uneven and undulating sections. The 10K course is a double lap of the 5K route.
We aim for maximum accessibility at our events. Our contact centre and on-site team are ready to assist with any needs or questions you may have.
Additional Support request badges are available, and our Event Managers are trained Dementia Friends.
Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.
Your back sign and race number
Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
