About the 5k event
The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Event details
The start line is situated on the cricket field in the centre of Woodbank Memorial Park. The finish line will also be within the similar vacinity.

Pedestrians: The closest entrance to the event site for pedestrians is via the entrance to Woodbank Park on Park Way, follow the path straight ahead past thecommunity gardening hub and take a left at the park map and follow the path to reach the event site
General Event Parking: Event Parking is available at Woodbank Park Car Park off Turncroft Lane/Little Moor Lane. This is then a short, flat walk on a tarmac path to the event site.
There is also car parking available at Vernon Park Car Park, off Stockport Road. The journey from this car park to the event site is a considerable walk and is a combiantion of surfaced path and grass that varies with uphill gradients and flat elevations.
Alternative parking can be found at Woodbank/Vernon park Gate car park that is off Turncroft Lane at entrance to Vernon Park. The journey from this car park to the event site is a short, flat walk, made up entirely of surfaced paths.
Blue Badge Parking: Blue Badge Parking for the event is available at Woodbank Park Car Park off Turncroft Lane/Little Moor Lane. This is then a short distance following a tarmac path to the event site.
Parking for blue badge holders is also available at Woodbank/Vernon park Gate car park that is off Turncroft Lane at entrance to Vernon Park. The journey from this car park to the event site is short and flat and made up entirely of surfaced paths.
Volunteer Parking: is available at Woodbank Park Car Park off Turncroft Lane/Little Moor Lane. This is then a short, flat walk on a tarmac path to the event site.
Public Transport:
Bus: Stockport Bus Station is a 15 minutes walk to the event site and bus routes 380, 384, 386 from Stockport run near to Woodbank park. Bus routes 330, 364, 380, 381, 382, 383, 384, 386 from Stockport run near to the Vernon park (which leads onto Woodbank Park)
Train: Stockport Train Station is a 1.1km away
Bredbury Station is 2 km away

Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.
Your back sign and race number
Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
