About the 10k event
Looking for more of a challenge without any pressure? Race for Life 10k is for you!
Our 10k events are now chip-timed, so you can find out if you’ve beaten your personal best – while you’re raising funds to help beat cancer.
10k is just over 6 miles. Take it at your own pace or push yourself a little more. Have fun with it and enjoy the atmosphere.

Event details
The meeting point and start line is on Costello Playing Fields near the Tennis Courts. The finish line will be in a similar vicinity

Pedestrians: The closest entrance to the event site for pedestrians on foot is to arrive via Anlaby Park Road and enter through Costello Stadium Car Park. It is then a short, flat walk on a combination of tarmac path and grass to the event site.
General Event Parking: Due to the recent rainfall, Event Parking has now been moved to Syrius Academy opposite Pickering Park . From here it is a short, flat walk predominately on tarmac path. Stewards will be on hand to direct participants to the event site. Please be respectful to residents and avoid blocking driveways and parking on curbs.
Blue Badge Parking: Blue Badge Parking is available at Warners Gym/Pickering Road car Park. From here, it is a short, flat walk on tarmac path to the event site.

Bus: The closest Bus stops to the event site are on Anlaby Park Rd, Boothferry Rd and Pickering Rd
Train: Hessle Train Station is a 2.2 miles away

Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.
Your back sign and race number
Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
